NAPERVILLE, IL — A phone scammer has been posing as Naperville police officers to try to get money from residents, according to a notification from city officials.

Police say several of the phone scam incidents took place on June 14 and that the caller ID indicates the call is coming from Naperville's police department. The scammer, identified only as a male, tells victims he is a police officer calling about an arrest warrant. The caller then demands that they send him gift cards to clear up the warrant.

If you believe you have been a victim of this or another phone scam, call the Naperville Police Department at 630-420-6666.
