Program Aids Naperville Residents With Disabilities In Emergency
The program lets residents inform first responders about communication needs and sensory sensitivities so they're prepped for emergencies.
NAPERVILLE, IL — A new program is helping Naperville residents with disabilities receive more customized care in case of an emergency. The voluntary Caring Hands program lets residents with sensory sensitivities, communication limitations, and other needs inform first responders of their requirements before an emergency occurs.
In a statement about the Caring Hands program, Naperville Fire Chief Mark Puknaitis said, "The more information we as first responders have going into an emergency situation, the more swiftly and effectively we'll be able to respond and provide the best possible care to the individual while taking into account their specific needs."
The aim is to provide personalized care in the event that a patient cannot communicate their needs during a time of crisis.
