Psychological Testing - Get answers for you and your child!

Lowe & Liebich Psychological Associates has noticed an increased demand for psychological and neuropsychological testing in our community.  Why is everyone jumping at the chance to receive comprehensive assessments?  Read below to discover the benefits.

Psychological and neuropsychological testing are important to many areas of the field of psychology. These assessments help in academic placement decisions, diagnosing, treatment planning, and can track the progress of intervention programs. So what is psychological and neuropsychological testing? It is a comprehensive assessment battery comprised of many different types of tests such as intelligence tests, achievement tests, developmental tests, tests of memory, attention, and executive functioning, tests of visual-spatial and motor abilities, and other tests that that help identify if there are any personality patterns that may be of interest to the individual, parent, a treating clinician or perhaps for employment. In addition, some tests assess for a specific concern such as depression, autism, or ADHD. All this information is useful; however, it is not intended to be used as a sole method of evaluation. Psychological and neuropsychological testing is one component of data collection to form a clinical picture of the person being tested/evaluated. The clinical interviews, interviews with family/friends/teachers, medical records, behavioral records and interactions with the individual all help to decide what can be derived from each of these tests that is in the best interest of the client.  This assessment process can include 3-4 sessions with the individual and recognizes him/her as the expert in his/her life.
