9/11 Remembrance Honors Naperville Native Killed In Attacks
A remembrance event will be held at Cmdr. Dan Shanower Memorial Sept. 11. Shanower was killed when the Pentagon was attacked Sept. 11, 2001.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Naperville Exchange Club will honor the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks with a remembrance ceremony to be held at the city's memorial for Cmdr. Dan Shanower, who was killed in the attack on the Pentagon.
At 8:30 a.m. Naperville Municipal Band and Naperville Men's Glee Club will perform musical selections prior to the remembrance ceremony. The ceremony officially begins at 8:46 a.m., which is the time when the first plane crashed into the World Trade Center, striking its north tower.

To commemorate the twin towers of the World Trade Center, twin beams of light will be projected into the skies above Naperville in the evening on Sept. 9 and Sept. 10 via World War II-era search lights.
