Rifle Used To Try to Rob Delivery Driver In Naperville: Cops
Police say Frederick Holmon, 31, of Chicago, used a semi-automatic rifle to try to rob a liquor delivery driver at the Ogden Avenue Jewel.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A Chicago man faces felony charges after police say he used a semi-automatic rifle in an attempt to rob a liquor delivery truck driver at a Jewel in Naperville. Frederick Holmon, 31, of Chicago, has been charged with attempted armed robbery with a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon in connection with Tuesday's incident.
Prosecutors say Holmon was wearing all black and armed with a 9mm semi-automatic rifle when he approached a man who was unloading liquor and wine at the Jewel at 1759 West Ogden Ave. Holmon is accused of telling the delivery driver, "It’s not worth your life."
The delivery driver then ran to a nearby store employee and said, "This guy's got a gun," police say.

Holmon is accused of fleeing on foot and getting into a Chevy Suburban that was parked nearby. The Suburban, which was photographed by a witness, fled east on Aurora Avenue. Prosecutors say another witness followed the Suburban and photographed its license plate.
A short time later, a Naperville police officer pulled the vehicle over on River Road near Ogden. Police say two other men were in the car with Holmon, who was identified by the delivery driver and an employee of Jewel.

Berlin continued, “I thank the Naperville Police Department for their outstanding work on this case as well as the brave witnesses who provided critical information to the police. The actions of the witnesses and their cooperation with law enforcement send a message that the people of DuPage County will not tolerate violent crime in their community."
Holmon is currently being held in DuPage County Jail on $750,000 bond. He is set to appear in court again Aug. 11. If convicted, Holmon faces up to 15 years in prison.
