Road Closures For Band Competition, Naperville Half Marathon

It's a busy weekend in Naperville. Central High School's marching band competition is on Saturday and the Half Marathon and 5K is on Sunday.

NAPERVILLE, IL — It will be a busy weekend in Naperville, with the Naperville Central High School marching band competition on Saturday, and the Naperville Half Marathon and 5K on Sunday.

Hillside Road will be closed between West Street and Webster Street from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. Saturday.

Half Marathon and 5K, Sunday Oct. 17

Both races begin at 7 a.m. at the intersection of Jackson Avenue and Eagle Street, by Quarry Lake. Road closures are in place along the course routes from 5 a.m. - noon; click here to see a more detailed map. Some parking restrictions will also be in place.

Half marathon course route

The course proceeds down Aurora Avenue, up Gren Valley Drive to Jefferson Avenue, then takes a turn down to Jackson Avenue. Runners proceed down Jackson to Ewing Street and go up Ewing, turning on to Spring Avenue and then up Mill Street. The course goes up Mill Street and around Naperville North High School, then back down Mill Street to the intersection of Jackson Avenue. Runners will head to Main Street and make turns on to Water Street, South Webster Street, and Aurora Avenue back to Main Street, then down to Hillside Road. From Hillside, runners proceed down to West Street, turn around at West and Martin, and complete part of the loop again.

5K course route

The 5K begins at Jackson Avenue and Eagle Street and takes runners down to Aurora Avenue, across to Berry Drive, up to Evergreen Avenue and over to Green Valley Drive before hitting Jefferson Avenue. Runners proceed down Jefferson, take a turn at Parkway, then go down Jackson Avenue, turning on Main Street, Water Street, and then back to the riverwalk.
