Route 59 Construction Contractors Fined for Missing Deadline

The $284,550 fine will not be collected until contractors have an opportunity to argue their case.

Contractors for a Route 59 reconstruction project through Naperville and Aurora have been fined close to $300,000 for missing their deadline.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Martam Construction, Inc. and K-FIVE Construction Corp. have been penalized in the amount of $284,550.

Illinois Department of Transportation State Spokeswoman Gianna Urgo told the Tribune the fines are not intended to act as punishment or generate revenue.
