School Board Seats Open - Board #204 Needs Leaders
Gautam "GB" Bhatia is the diverse, engaged leader we need to represent the best interests of our community. Vote on April 2nd.

With seats open on the IPSD #204 School Board, parents and teachers are looking to the short list of qualified candidates to best represent the best interests of our neighborhoods. Gautam "GB" Bhatia has announced his candidacy and is excited for an opportunity to serve you.
Gautam (GB) Bhatia grew up in India and came to the US in 1990 as a student at Augustana College in Rock Island, IL. He has a BA in Computer Science, Math and Physics and an MBA in MIS and Operations.
Gautam (GB) has lived & worked in several parts of the US – Iowa, Tennessee, Minnesota and has been a resident of Aurora for the past 10 years with his wife Aparna, 12 yr. old son Vikrant (means Brave) and 6 yr. old daughter Nidhi (means Treasure).

GB has illustrated a deep commitment to community service and driving citizen awareness for almost a decade. As a Founding Member and Chairman of Aurora’s Indian American Community Outreach Advisory Board (IACOAB), GB has been positively impacting our neighborhoods.

Among the many causes and foundations found on his resume, Gautam has a shown a deep interest in promoting diversity, driving awareness of current youth & senior issues through collaboration with non-profit organizations. Moreover, GB has led the following IACOAB’s events & community awareness seminars:
- Public Awareness Civic Education (PACE) event “Unity in Diversity” with IPSD 204’s Parent Diversity Advisory Council (PDAC) @ Waubonsie Valley High School (2017)
- Youth Challenges and Concerns – with Sanjeevani4U, Kids Matter, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention & IPSD 204 PDAC @ the 95th Naperville Library (2018)
- Collaborating with Aurora Inter-Faith on: Get to Know Your Hindu Neighbor (Jan 2019) Get you Know Your Muslim Neighbor (Fall 2018) Founder, Swami Vivekananda Scholarship (2017, 2018) Festival of Lights (2014-18)
While planning these community events and seminars, Gautam has worked with many community organizations, non-profits, elected and appointed city government officials, IPSD operations, PDAC (Parent Diversity & Advisory Council) and high-school educators and administrators. This experience has given GB the wide-angle perspective the village around us needs.
