Sept. 11 Memorial Event Planned In Naperville

The event will be held at Cmdr. Dan Shanower Memorial at 6 p.m. on Sept. 11.

NAPERVILLE, IL — The Exchange Club of Naperville will hold an event to commemorate Sept. 11. The memorial event will be held Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. at Cmdr. Dan Shanower Memorial, which is located behind the Naperville Municipal Center, 400 S. Eagle St.

The Millennium Carillon bells will ring to herald the start of the event, which will feature music by the Naperville Municipal Band. A member of Young Naperville Singers will sing the National Anthem and an additional song.

Naperville Mayor Steve Chirico will speak at the event, along with Naperville Fire Department Chief Mark Puknaitis and Naperville Police Department Chief Robert Marshall.

Those who attend the event must wear face masks at all times and are encouraged to maintain six feet of social distance from other groups.

In the event of rain or inclement weather, the memorial will be canceled.
