Shooting In Downtown Naperville Under Investigation: Police

NAPERVILLE, IL — Police are investigating a shooting that occurred Friday evening in downtown Naperville, authorities said.

Officers were on patrol shortly before 8 p.m. when they heard apparent gunshots coming from an alley near the zero block of East Chicago Avenue, according to police, who said responding officers saw several juveniles fleeing the area.

A search revealed evidence of gunfire and people nearby reported hearing the shots but not seeing the shooting, police said, adding no victims or property damage had been confirmed as of Sunday afternoon.

Officers detained and questioned several people in the immediate area but released them all, according to police, who said no gun had been found and the investigation was ongoing.
