Motorcyclist Hurt In Crash With Semi On Route 59 In Naperville

Police say the impact also caused the motorcycle and semi truck to catch fire.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A Naperville motorcyclist was seriously hurt in a crash with a semi truck on Route 59 in Naperville Wednesday morning, according to police. The crash caused the motorcycle and semi to catch fire and also caused damage to at least one other vehicle after a tire exploded.

The crash took place around 10:25 a.m. near the intersection of Route 59 and 95th Street. Police say the gray 2012 Kawasaki motorcycle was driving south on Route 59 when it went through the intersection and crashed into the semi.

The motorcyclist, a 37-year-old man, was taken to a hospital with severe leg injuries that did not appear to be life threatening. The semi driver was not injured.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area and encouraged to choose an alternate route. The intersection reopened to traffic just after 4:30 p.m.
