Student Made 'Threats Of Violence' Against Naperville School: PD

A juvenile faces felony charges of disorderly conduct in connection with the incident.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A student faces charges after making "threats of violence" against Wheatland Academy in Naperville Thursday, according to police. The student, who has not been identified because they are a juvenile, has been charged with felony disorderly conduct.

Police say the student was taken into custody following an investigation into "statements and verbal threats of violence" directed at the Christian high school.

In a statement, Naperville Police Department Deputy Police Chief Jason Arres said, "Threats of school violence are unacceptable and will not be tolerated. I cannot stress enough the need for parents to talk to their children about the seriousness and potential consequences of such statements because we will continue to take them seriously and take necessary action to ensure the safety of our schools."

Arres added that the police department will actively pursue any threats made against Naperville schools. Police encourage residents to call 911 if they have any information about a threat made "to an individual or school community."
