Students Sought To Serve On Government Commissions In Naperville
Students can serve on government commissions as part of a partnership between KidsMatter and the City of Naperville.
NAPERVILLE, IL — The Naperville City Council has teamed up with KidsMatter to offer a Leadership Academy that allows students to take part in a number of boards and commissions throughout Naperville.
Students can apply to serve on the following government bodieFs:
- Financial Advisory Board
- Historic Preservation Commission
- Human Rights and Fair Housing Commission
- Sister Cities Commission
- Special Events and Community Arts Commission
- Transportation Advisory Board
In a statement Naperville Mayor Scott Wehrli said, "Serving on a board or commission is a great way to learn about how local government can contribute to the community and the responsibility that goes along with it. We encourage high school students to apply and share their ideas."

The program is open to all students who reside in the City of Naperville, but students who are high school seniors will be prioritized for selection, per an update from the city. Participating students will need to attend 75 percent of the board or commission meetings.
Students can click the link to fill out an application and to learn more about each Naperville board or commission to help them decide to which they want to apply.
