Police say the suspect had a gun to his head when they arrived to the scene.

NAPERVILLE, IL -- A man is in serious but stable condition after he was injured during a police-involved shooting in Naperville late Wednesday. Police say the man, identified only as a 27-year-old white male, had a gun to his head in the parking lot of a strip mall in the 1200 block of W. Ogden when he "advanced on the officers and pointed the firearm directly at them."

Police were called to the scene at approximately 10:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a suspicious subject. They arrived to find the suspect in the parking lot with a gun to his head, according to a news release from Deputy Chief Jason Arres. Police say an officer fired after the man began to approach police with the gun aimed at them.

The suspect was hit and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. No police officers were injured in the incident, Arres said.
