Teen Boy Arrested in Connection to Naperville Vehicle Burglaries
The vast majority of the vehicles burglarized were unlocked.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A 15-year-old Chicago boy has been arrested in connection to a number of Naperville vehicle burglaries and stolen vehicles.
Naperville Police Department Cmdr. Jason Arres said at around 5 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, police were investigating a number of burglaries to motor vehicles and stolen vehicles in the Hobson West, West Highlands, Olympic Terrace and Maplebrook subdivisions.
“While checking the area, officers located an occupied stolen vehicle in the area of Washington Street and Tamarack Drive,” Arres said in a news release. “Upon being stopped by the Naperville Police Department, the suspect fled from the vehicle and was apprehended a short time later.”

Further investigation revealed that five motor vehicles had been stolen, which included the one located and recovered. Additionally, 30 motor vehicles had been burglarized. A stolen vehicle from the city of Chicago was also recovered in the vicinity.
The vast majority of the vehicles burglarized were unlocked, as were the stolen vehicles. Additionally, the stolen vehicles, which are named below, all had the keys located inside them.

A 15-year-old boy from the 1200 block of Euclid Avenue in Chicago was charged with burglary, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, obstructing identification and resisting arrest.

Police are reminding all residents to lock their vehicles and not to leave valuables or keys inside them. In 2015, 89 percent of Naperville’s reported car burglaries were to unlocked vehicles, Arres said.
