Timeline Leading Up to Death of Sandra Bland Released

The morning of her death Bland told a jailer she was fine.

A timeline leading up to the death of Sandra Bland has been released by Texas authorities, ABC 7 reports.

At 7:05 a.m. the morning of July 13, Bland told the jailer she was doing fine. About 50 minutes later, Bland used an intercom in her cell to ask how to make a phone call from the phone in her cell. She was told to use the four-digit pin she was given during booking. The jail does not have a record of Bland actually making a phone call, though.

At 8:55 a.m., a jailer went to ask Bland if she wanted to go to the recreational hall. The jailer then noticed Bland hanging from the ”privacy partition” in her cell.

More people came to Bland’s cell shortly after 9 a.m. with a stretcher. Minutes later, the stretcher was rolled out with Bland on top.

Bland was arrested July 10 for allegedly kicking an officer. She was initially pulled over for a traffic violation. She was found dead in her cell July 13. The official ruling for her death has been self-inflicted asphyxiation.

Bland’s arrest was also recorded by a bystander.

Bland was set to start a new job at Texas Prairie View A&M, where she graduated in 2009.

Family and friends have been rocked by her death and have called for an independent autopsy.
