Tornado Touched Down In Naperville, Traveled To Lisle During Thursday's Storms

NAPERVILLE, IL — The National Weather Service (NWS) has confirmed that an EF-0 tornado touched down in Naperville Thursday before making its way to Lisle. The tornado was among 17 that were confirmed by NWS as of early June 15.

The tornado came after a severe storm Wednesday that left downed trees, blocking 19 roads in its immediate aftermath, Naperville Director of Communications Linda LaCloche told Patch.

Following Wednesday storms and Thursday's tornado, Naperville and Lisle scheduled citywide branch and brush collections.

According to the Enhanced Fujita (EF) scale, an EF-0 tornado can have gusts of up to 85 mph that last for three seconds or longer.

Thursday's EF-0 tornado comes as the five-year anniversary of the Father's Day 2021 tornado, an EF-3 tornado that damaged hundreds of homes and businesses.

Among the 17 tornados confirmed to have touched down Thursday was an EF-2 tornado that made its way from Hickory Hills to Midway Airport.
