Uranium Found In Basement Of Home In Naperville
Officials say there is no danger to the public.

NAPERVILLE, IL -- A Naperville resident alerted police after he found a package labeled "uranium" in his basement Wednesday. The fire department responded to the scene in the 1000 block of Huntleigh at approximately 11:30 a.m., closing off the surrounding area during the investigation.
According to city officials, the hazmat team put on protective gear before entering the home to inspect the package. Uranium levels were tested and reported to be within normal range. The home's residents were also tested for uranium exposure and they had "no elevated readings and no complaints."
The Illinois Emergency Management Agency will remove the uranium package, officials say. It is not considered a danger to the community.
