Watch Naperville Cop Pull Toddler From Oncoming Traffic

Dash cam footage shows the sergeant scooping up the boy from the middle of Rte. 59 moments before a car passes.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A Naperville cop has been given special recognition for saving the life of a toddler who ran into traffic in May. Dash cam footage shows Sergeant Anthony Mannino stopping his squad car and running into traffic when he saw the small child running down the middle of Route 59.

According to police, the child "escaped his mother's watchful eye," got out of his home and began walking down the street without supervision. By the time Mannino spotted the boy, he was jogging into the right lane with cars and trucks zooming past in the adjacent lane.

"Luckily, no one was hurt, and we attribute that to Sgt. Mannino's observation while on patrol and quick reaction, placing his squad car and himself between the child and traffic," police said.
