Watch: Navy Dad Surprises Daughter at School

An eighth grade student got a very welcome surprise when her father unexpectedly showed up at her school after being gone since August.

An eighth grade Aurora student got what was probably one of the best surprises of her life when her Navy father showed up at school.

According to a report from NBC Chicago, Dee Aponte was shocked when she saw her dad suddenly appear at Cowheard Middle School in Aurora.

Her father, Manuel Aponte, Jr., had been away for months while stationed in San Diego. He hadn’t seen his daughter since August.

But when he walked in the door at her classroom, you can see just how much she missed her father.

“My dad!” she exclaimed, running to him with hugs and kisses.

Her father told NBC Chicago that he wanted to surprise her at school since he heard some people thought he didn’t exist due to always showing up when school wasn’t in session.

“None of the kids, none of the teachers ever see me. So I figured I’d come when she’s in school,” he said.
