Water Main Break Ices Over Ogden Avenue In Naperville
City officials say the affected part of Ogden Avenue could remain iced over until the weekend.

NAPERVILLE, IL -- A broken water main has created dangerously icy conditions on Ogden Avenue in Naperville Wednesday morning, city officials said in a news release. Motorists are advised to steer clear of Ogden Avenue between Washington and Mill Streets as road salt has been ineffective in melting the ice due to below-zero temperatures and wind chills.
Officials say crews have "extensively" treated the icy road and that traffic control has been put in place to direct drivers who are out on the roads. At press time, eastbound lanes were not affected by the water main break.
According to city officials, the ice may not be fully cleared from this part of Ogden Avenue until the weekend, when temperatures are expected to rise.
