NAPERVILLE, IL -- It's that time of year again when elderly men and tiny tots alike will don green top hats, shamrock sunglasses, and beaming smiles for the West Suburban Irish Parade. Thousands of people are expected to attend the 2019 West Suburban Irish Parade, which will step off from Naperville North High School at 10 a.m. on March 16.

Make sure to head to Naperville North High School or anywhere along the parade route bright and early to snag a prime viewing spot. A viewing spot will be set up outside of Nichols Library to accommodate viewers with disabilities.

The parade will begin at 10 a.m. at Naperville North High School on Mill Street and then head south to Jefferson. Marchers will turn east on Jefferson to Main Street.

At Main Street, the parade will head south before it comes to a stop at Water Street.

Irish Mass on March 13

On March 13, St. Rafael Catholic Church will hold an Irish Mass and soda bread reception from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

St. Paddy's Day 5K on March 16

Naperville will host its 9th Annual St. Paddy's Day 5K on March 16 at 8 a.m. near the intersection of Jackson and West Street. Whether you register to race in the 5K or show up to display your support, you'll have plenty of time to view the parade afterwards, so be sure to don some green!

Kiwani's Pancake Festival on March 16

March 16 also marks the date for the annual Kiwani's Pancake Festival, which will take place at Naperville Central High School from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. For $10, you get all-you-can-eat pancakes and sausage. Pre-sale tickets are available for $8 before the event at Casey's Foods, 124 W. Gartner, and Oswald's Pharmacy, 88 W. Gartner.

Pre-schoolers get in for free to enjoy the pancakes, games, and live entertainment.
