When Is Trick-Or-Treating In Naperville In 2022?
See when to head out trick-or-treating in Naperville in 2022 and get some safety tips from local police.
NAPERVILLE, IL — The city of Naperville does not have set trick-or-treat times for 2022, but is offering safety tips for those who plan to head out from home to home in search of candy on Oct. 31. First, they suggest that young children stop trick-or-treating at nightfall and older kids wrap up their trick-or-treating by 8 p.m.
The following safety tips are also recommended for trick-or-treaters and their parents/guardians:
- Travel in groups
- Wear a flame retardant costume that fits properly
- Wear light colors and reflective tape to increase visibility
- Avoid "overly scary" costumes or those with weapons
- Carry a flashlight or glow stick
- Do not go into homes
- Young children should be accompanied by an adult
- Don't accept rides unless you check with an adult you trust
- Look both ways when crossing the street
- Avoid shortcuts
- Keep a charged cellphone on you in case of emergency
- Parents should inspect Halloween candy
- Throw out any treats that are homemade, unwrapped or not tightly wrapped
Drivers are also urged to stay sober and use caution when kid are trick-or-treating, staying vigilant to spot kids who may be crossing the street without looking. Police say motorists should also avoid using their cellphones or engaging with other distractions while driving, especially between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.
