Fatal Victim In New Lenox Crash Was Pinned Against Guard Rail: Sheriff

A crash involving a car and truck on Schoolhouse Road in New Lenox Friday morning left one person dead.

UPDATE, 1 p.m.: NEW LENOX, IL — A 41-year-old man was killed after a crash in New Lenox Friday morning.

The victim, who has not yet been identified, was pinned in the driver's seat of a Subaru found against a guard rail in the southbound lanes of Schoolhouse Road near Route 30, according to the Will County Sheriff's Office. The coroner's office pronounced him dead at the scene.

Sheriff's deputies were called to the scene in New Lenox Township at 8:48 a.m., when they found the Subaru and a Chevy Silverado had been involved in a crash. The Silverado was found in the west ditch near the road. Both the driver of the Silverado, a 42-year-old man, and a passenger, a 30-year-old man, were treated by paramedics but refused further medical treatment.

An initial investigation into the accident indicates the driver of the Silverado may have lost control of his vehicle before striking the Subaru. Citations are pending, according to the Sheriff's Office.

NEW LENOX, IL — One person is dead after a motor vehicle accident Friday morning in New Lenox.

New Lenox emergency crews responded to Schoolhouse Road north of Route 30 around 8:45 a.m. to find a crash between a car and a truck.

There was one fatality, New Lenox Fire Protection District Public Information Officer Marisa Schrieber confirmed. Another person involved in the crash refused medical treatment.

Emergency vehicles remain on scene as of 10:45 a.m. Motorists are asked to avoid the area as the investigation continues.

The identity, age and gender of the victim has not yet been confirmed.
