51 Confirmed, Suspected Cases Of Coronavirus At Silver Cross

The hospital has 36 inpatients who have tested positive for the coronavirus and 15 persons under investigation as of Thursday morning.

NEW LENOX, IL — Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox has once again seen a decrease in the amount of coronavirus inpatients at the hospital over the past week. As of 7 a.m. Thursday, the hospital told Patch it has 36 inpatients who have tested positive for the coronavirus and 15 persons under investigation.

Patients continue to be cared for in isolation.

Over the past month weeks as Patch has been asking Silver Cross for patient counts every week, there has been an overall decrease.

The hospital is also celebrating National Nurses Week this week. Debra Robbins, director of marketing and community relations at Silver Cross said the hospital "couldn't be more proud" of its over 1,3000 registered nurses and certified nursing assistants.

"They have responded to the COVID-19 crisis with courage, compassion and leadership while continuing to provide exceptional care to all of our patients," Robbins said. "We salute them and thank them for all they do every day."

Robbins also thanked the community and area businesses for their continuing support and donations of meals and supplies.

"We’ve received an amazing outpouring of love and support, and we thank you all," Robbins said.

As of May 6, there are 68,232 people who have tested positive for the coronavirus in Illinois, and 2,974 have died, according to IDPH.
