'AARP Smart Driver' Course Planned In New Lenox
The course, which is offered by AARP Driver Safety, is designed especially for drivers age 50 and older.
NEW LENOX, IL — The Village of New Lenox, through its Safe Community Coalition, will offer an AARP Smart Driver™ Course Oct. 17 and Oct. 18 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The village said the 2-day course will be held in the Community Room at the New Lenox Village Hall. The cost of the course is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members.
The course, which is offered by AARP Driver Safety, is designed especially for drivers age 50 and older. According to the village, in the course, you'll learn the current rules of the road, defensive driving techniques, and how to operate your vehicle more safely in today's increasingly challenging driving environment. You'll also learn about the proper use of safety belts, air bags, anti-lock brakes, and new technology found in cars, the effects of medications on driving, and the importance of eliminating distractions, such as eating, smoking, and using a cell phone.
