2 New Lenox Businesses Hit Minutes Apart In Smash-And-Grabs Targeting Gaming Machines: NLPD

Both incidents happened in the early morning hours, employees told police.

NEW LENOX, IL — Two New Lenox businesses were hit the same day by smash-and-grab crews targeting gaming machines, according to New Lenox police reports.

ReUnion Bar and Grill, 1080 E. Lincoln Highway, and Vino, 647 E Lincoln Highway, were hit in the early morning hours June 18. The break-in at ReUnion was reported at 4:21 a.m., the incident at Vino reported at 4:27 a.m., according to police reports.

At ReUnion, an employee told police that two suspects had broken into the business and targeted gaming slot machines. They made off with one black box taken from one of the gaming machines, while damaging five of the six machines.

At Vino, an employee told police that three suspects had broken in and also targeted their slot machines. Those suspects left with one black box taken from two of the gaming machines, according to police reports.

Police believe the same suspects could be behind both incidents, Chief Micah Nuesse confirmed.

Both incidents are under review for investigation or case closure.
