NEW LENOX, IL — Increased presence of police and fire in New Lenox Tuesday is just a drill, the New Lenox Fire Protection District said.
On Tuesday, July 14, K9/Drone Search and Rescue Strike Team will be conducting training in New Lenox for their monthly drill. An increased number of police and fire vehicles may be seen throughout the fire district and village between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
The objective of the SRST is to provide and promote search and rescue K9 teams, drones, command staff, and UTV's as a resource to local police and fire departments and to communities, to locate and rescue lost or missing individuals, according to its social media.
Tuesday's work is only training and residents should not be alarmed.
"This is very valuable training for area K9's and drone operators to hone in their skills in the event of an emergency or large-scale incident," the fire district said Monday.
