Suspects Flee, Abandon Vehicle After New Lenox Gaming Cafe Burglary: Police

Zin Club was targeted in the early morning hours Friday. Several suspects are still at large after fleeing on foot.

NEW LENOX, IL — A burglary at a New Lenox business early Friday led to a chase and the suspects abandoning the car on I-80, according to police reports.

Police were called just after 2 a.m. to Zin Club, 2461 E. Joliet Highway, for a report of a burglary in progress.

The business’s alarm company advised four subjects were inside the business with a vehicle parked in front, and they used sledgehammers to break into the gaming machines. Officers arrived on scene and saw the vehicle leaving. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle but it fled at a high rate of speed eastbound on Route 30.

The Mokena Police Department successfully deployed stop sticks to immobilize the vehicle. The suspects continued driving on deflated tires onto eastbound Interstate 80. They then fled the vehicle on foot and left the vehicle rolling on the shoulder of Interstate 80.

Officers safely stopped the vehicle and conducted a search of the area. Ultimately, police were unable to locate the suspects.
