New Lenox Man, 23, Caught Prowling, Trespassing Into Cars: NLPD

The man was seen on security cameras trying door handles on cars in the early morning hours Tuesday, according to police reports.

NEW LENOX, IL — A New Lenox man was arrested early Tuesday after police said he was seen prowling and trying to get into cars.

Police were dispatched just after 3 a.m. Tuesday to Town Crest Drive for a report of a suspicious person. The caller stated a person was sneaking around the residences and attempting to gain access to vehicles.

Police located a suspect in the area, later identified as William J. McCullough, 23. Nearby security video showed McCullough did gain access to at least one vehicle in the area.

McCullough was detained, and a search of his belongings yielded a bag of pills identified as Clonazepam.

He was taken into custody and transported to the New Lenox Police Department, where he was charged with possession of a controlled substance and criminal trespass to vehicles.

He was processed and released.
