WILL COUNTY — Will County residents, businesses, and private nonprofit organizations impacted by recent severe weather are now eligible for low-interest federal disaster loans following the July 27 storms that impacted the region.
Additionally, local, state, and federal agencies will be visible in various communities over the next week as recovery and assessment efforts continue from the August 11 severe weather.
"Will County has experienced unprecedented waves of severe weather within a two-week window, leading to significant property damage," said Will County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Director Allison Anderson. "Assistance is now available for the July storms and we are actively collaborating with state and federal officials to assess damage and determine what assistance will be available for the August storms."
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is offering low-interest federal disaster loans for uninsured or under-insured losses to eligible Will County homeowners, renters, businesses, and private nonprofit organizations affected by the July 27 severe storms.
Meanwhile, joint teams from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA), U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), and Will County EMA will be in affected areas of Will County Monday, August 31 through Wednesday, September 2 to assess damage from the August 11 severe storms.
July 27 SBA Disaster Assistance
Homeowners, renters, businesses, and private nonprofit organizations impacted by the July 27 storms may be eligible for low-interest SBA disaster loans. These loans may help repair or replace disaster-damaged homes, personal property, businesses, machinery, equipment, inventory, and other eligible property. Certain businesses and private nonprofit organizations may also qualify for assistance with economic losses caused by the disaster.

In-person assistance is available through Tuesday, September 8. Hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The location will be closed Monday, September 7, for Labor Day. Walk-ins are welcome.
Federal Damage Assessments for August 11 Storm
Joint assessment teams will visit areas impacted by the August 11 storms to document damage to homes and businesses.
Residents may see assessment teams going door-to-door in areas impacted by the August 11 storms. Team members will only assess damage from outside and will not enter homes or businesses. They will carry official identification, and there is no charge for the assessment.
The information collected will help state and federal officials determine the extent of the damage and whether Will County may qualify for additional federal disaster assistance.
