Police Debunk Alleged Threat Of School Shooting At Providence Catholic HS: NLPD

Police said they could not verify a threat was made, and that it was "conjecture based on rumors."

NEW LENOX, IL — New Lenox police on Monday debunked a report of a school shooting threat against Providence Catholic High School, police confirmed Tuesday.

Police immediately responded after receiving the report just after 4 p.m. Monday.

"We investigated the incident and determined that the threat was conjecture based on rumors, and no one could verify that a threat was made," Deputy Chief Tim Perry said in an email statement. "Based on the information gathered, there was no threat to the school or students."

Perry said that Providence Catholic High School is taking additional steps to ensure the safety of their staff and students, noting also that the New Lenox Police Department is no longer involved.

Patch has contacted Providence Catholic High School leadership for additional information, but has not received a response.
