Car Stolen From New Lenox Driveway, Thieves Used Tablet To Start It: New Lenox Police

NEW LENOX, IL — A car was stolen from a New Lenox driveway after the two thieves broke in through the sunroof, according to New Lenox police reports.

New Lenox police were called at 9 a.m. Sept. 26 to the 2800 block of Southwind Drive for a report of motor vehicle theft.

The caller told police their vehicle—a Chevrolet SS sedan—was taken from their driveway overnight. Security video showed that, at 1:30 a.m., two suspects got out of a vehicle on the street and approached the victim's vehicle. Both suspects broke the sunroof, and one climbed inside the car.

According to police, the other suspect handed a tablet to the one inside the vehicle. The suspect inside the car was able to use the tablet to assist in starting the vehicle, and both vehicles were taken from the area, officials said.

The incident remains under review for further investigation or case closure.
