NEW LENOX, IL — One person is in custody after a police presence that spanned the overnight hours at a New Lenox home, police said Monday morning.
Police were called around 7:30 p.m. Sunday to a home in the 2300 block of Alta Vista for what they have now confirmed was a domestic incident. Police did not provide any additional information and declined to confirm details in scanner reports circulating on social media.
A massive police presence, including SWAT, remained outside the home late into Sunday and overnight, with reduced force Monday morning. Negotiations were heard taking place late Sunday night. Residents in the area reported hearing authorities over a loudspeaker asking a person inside the home to come out with their hands up to avoid harm.
Police issued an update just before 9:30 a.m. Monday, saying that one person is in custody. Police did not identify that person.
"The situation has been resolved peacefully and without incident," police said. "The incident stems from a domestic issues and a subject has been taken into custody. Further information will be released as it becomes available."
