The New Lenox Fire Protection District (NLFPD) responded to a structure fire on Manor Court early Friday morning, bringing the fire under control within 10 minutes of arrival.
At approximately 5:32 a.m., NLFPD crews were dispatched to a reported structure fire. The first fire suppression apparatus arrived within four minutes, and crews immediately began fire suppression operations and a search of the residence. The fire was confined to the kitchen area of the residence.
During the search, firefighters found and removed an occupant from the residence. The patient was taken to a local hospital before being flown to a regional burn center for further treatment, officials said.
Firefighters also safely recovered the resident's dog, which is currently in the care of a local animal shelter.
No injuries to firefighters were reported.
The NLFPD thanked its mutual aid partners for their assistance during the incident. The Mokena and Frankfort Fire Protection Districts, along with the New Lenox Police Department, provided critical support at the scene.
