AMC Theatres has announced today that the Showplace New Lenox 14 will open an IMAX theater on Friday with the premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2.
The IMAX theatre at this location has been custom-designed for use in a multiplex theatre. To maximize the field of view in the modified auditorium, the screen was replaced with a larger, slightly curved and specially treated IMAX screen positioned closer to the audience.
The IMAX theatre at AMC Showplace New Lenox 14 will feature Hollywood’s biggest movies that have been digitally re-mastered into IMAX’s format.

Other upcoming Hollywood movies to be released in IMAX format include: Reel Steel (Oct. 07), Puss and Boots (Nov. 04), Happy Feet 2 (Nov. 18), Mission Impossible (Dec. 16) and The Adventures of Tintin (Dec. 28).
The opening of the IMAX theatre at AMC Showplace New Lenox 14 is part of a joint-venture agreement by AMC and IMAX to install more than 115 IMAX digital projection systems at AMC locations in major U.S. markets and Canada.
