Student recognition enhances achievement. Lincoln-Way Central administrative staff recognized the accomplishments of the student yearbook staff this week, as the students launched their 56th yearbook in the history of the school on May 18. The title of the Aegis yearbook is “It’s Time for a Small Change.”
“We wanted to do something for the change at Central, with this being the first year that the seniors were only students who have gone to Central. With the building of West, last year we had West and Central students in the graduating class. We also wanted to follow our tradition, so we chose the Lincoln penny, as “small change.” A large Lincoln penny is displayed right by our front door as a class gift from the class of 1957”, stated Jennifer Torto, Design Editor.
“You are to be commended for all your hard work. I really love the part of the design with the emphasis on the penny. The penny means so much to our alumni, and it means so much to our students. I am so very proud of this yearbook. You have taken the theme and followed the theme though out the whole yearbook, it’s awesome,” stated Steve Provis, principal.

“Our biggest challenge was to get the 2011 penny. We called the United States Mint, and they would not confirm when it would be out in circulation. So we went on EBay and were able to purchase 2,000 pennies, one to go on the cover of each yearbook. The students individually glued each penny onto the cover of each yearbook,” noted Karin Dunn, yearbook advisor and English teacher.
Student editors are: Ashley Golda, co-managing editor; Alyssa Allevi, co-managing editor; Alyssa Ruswick, co-copy editor; Abby Bobzin, co-copy editor; and Jennifer Torto, design editor.
