held an all-school recognition assembly Monday to honor the varsity cheerleading team for taking third place at the Illinois High School Association’s State Tournament.
The competition took place on Saturday, Feb. 5 at U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington, Illinois. During the assembly, the cheerleaders performed their award-winning routine, which amazed the Providence community by the level of talent thes team possesses.
The 24 members of the 2010-2011 varsity cheerleading team were awarded medals by Providence athletic director Doug Ternik.

“It has been a privilege to coach these student-athletes," Ternik said in a news release.
Ternik and cheerleading coach Laura Duesing both said they've got a great respect for the students' skills, leadership and character.

"This has been a team to treasure and a season to remember,” Duesing said.
