Behold the Beauty After the Storm
Give your worries to God so that you can focus on Him and the beauty in each moment

4 One thing I asked of the Lord,
that will I seek after:
to live in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
to behold the beauty of the Lord,
and to inquire in his temple.
~Psalm 27:4
Worries surround us throughout our lives. Sometimes more so than others. They can sometimes affect us just slightly, like the light, powdery snows of winter that slow us down in our commutes or other times, they can weigh on us heavily, like the deep, wet snow storms that can keep up from going about our daily routines. Regardless, these worries have one thing in common – they keep our focus on ourselves and what we can do to resolve them as opposed to the One that wants only the best for us.
Beginning each day asking God to continue to help you through whatever might come your way throughout the day helps to remove the focus on yourself and put the worries of the day in God’s hands. Knowing He will provide helps ease the burden of trying to “go it alone” - “…but for God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26b). It is by putting these burdens in the hands of God that we can finally lift our eyes to see the beauty of the day – even in difficult times. Like the morning sun shining on the newly fallen snow from the storm from the previous evening that illumines the little “diamonds” within the drifts of snow, we can begin to see the good in the midst of difficulties we experience.
As we continue our conversations with God, we can ask for Him to reveal His blessings to us in all situations, knowing that He is with us always. It is by moving the focus away from ourselves and onto God that we can continue to seek out what He would have us do to continue a deeper relationship with Him. God has told us in Hebrews 13:5b, “I will never leave you or forsake you.” Let us remember this even at the most difficult times in our lives, for there is beauty after the storm.
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Our lives are not easy. Temptations and trials plague us daily – sometimes more so than others. Help us to remember to always hand our worries over to You and allow You to move the focus of our lives away from ourselves and onto You and what You have in store for us after these storms are over. Amen.
