Boys Golf: Providence, Lincoln-Way Central Finish 1-2 in Regional
Providence's Telly Korbakes shot 73 to capture medalist honors in the Class 3A Minooka Regional at Heritage Bluffs on Tuesday. His work led the Celtics to the team title. Lincoln-Way Central placed second.

senior Telly Korbakes shot 1-over 73 to capture medalist honors in the Class 3A Minooka Regional on Tuesday at Heritage Bluffs. In an article published by the Sun-Times Media Group, Korbakes said he was largely unfamiliar with the golf course until he went to work taming the grounds.
Korbakes led Providence to the regional title. The Celtics had a team total of 308. Casey Labuda (75), Ryan Utter (78) and freshman Mickey Brick (82) also chipped in scores that counted for the Celtics. Nick Anderson (85) and Will McCabe (86) rounded out the team's performance.

Lincoln-Way Central also advanced as a team to next week's sectional at Inwood.The Knights placed second with 320. Tom Schuman shot 76, Bryant Bolden 78, Tony Kestel 83 and Ronnie Boggs 83. Dan Hipp was next with 84, followed by Kyle Tebelman 89.
Lincoln-Way East placed fifth (335) and Lincoln-Way North finished seventh (347).

Lincoln-Way East advanced three individuals and Lincoln-Way North one. Matt Contey shot 79 to pace the Griffins. Nick Moleski's 80 led the Phoenix. Matt Stoner (83) and Ron Gorny (84) also advanced for East.
Class 2A JCA Regional: Lincoln-Way West's Will Knights shot 76 to capture medalist honors in the Class 2A Joliet Catholic Academy Regional at Joliet Country Club. Knights led the Warriors to a third-place finish with a team total of 345.
Jeery Lombardo (88), Sean Knights (90), Mike Baio (91), Andrew O'Keefe (94) and Dan Robson (103) rounded out the scoring for Lincoln-Way West, which moves on to play in next week's sectional at Broken Arrow.
