February 13 Ash Wednesday Events at the United Methodist Church of New Lenox

February 13 Ash Wednesday Events at the United Methodist Church of New Lenox

Lent is an important time in the Christian life - a time of self-searching, reflection, and asking God to change and renew our hearts.  During Lent, we "journey" with Jesus as he walks to Jerusalem to give himself as the Gift of God's love for a sinful world, and bears our sin, our hate, our brokenness, on the cross.  We take this journey as a community of people, who all share the need for Christ's powerful forgiveness.  The United Methodist Church of New Lenox will host two events on February 13.  The first is sponsored by the United Methodist Women, which is their Annual Ash Wednesday Service and Brunch at 9:00 AM.  The second will be later that evening, which is the Lent Workshop from 6 - 8 PM.

The UMW will host their annual Ash Wednesday Service Brunch and welcome all area women that would like to participate in this meaningful service, which includes the imposition of ashes and communion.  They will begin the service at 9:00 AM in the Sanctuary and a delicious brunch will follow immediately after the service in their Fellowship Area.  There is no charge, however a free-will offering will be taken.

Later that same evening, the Lent Workshop, which is geared toward families, will begin at 6:00 PM with a light supper, learning activities, conversation starters for all ages and crafts for children.  This will be followed with the worship service at 7:00 PM in the Sanctuary and will include the imposition of ashes and communion.  There is no charge, but a free-will offering will be taken.
