God's Creations

The flowers appear on the earth;
   the time of singing has come,
and the voice of the turtle-dove

I just love this time of year when the lilacs bloom!  I love to walk up to each blooming lilac bush in my yard and just inhale its intoxicating perfume!  It draws me back to my childhood, where our yard had 20 lilac bushes and the open windows would allow the gentle breeze of spring to waft the wonderful scent throughout the house.  Unfortunately, this wonderful time of year only lasts a couple of short weeks before the heat of summer comes beating down on us.  Yet each part of the year has its own amazing sight, sound or smell to anticipate and bring us joy. 

Just as the seasons have their own respective beauty, so does each person that God has created.  We often judge people by their outward appearances before even giving them a chance to show you who they really are on the inside.  Each of us has been guilty of this at some time in our lives.  The man that looks like a dirty “hippy” throw-back from the ‘70’s has a heart of gold – taking in people that need a place to stay or buying an oven for a disabled lady whose oven was no longer working.  The “Barbie” look-alike that one may feel is flirting with everybody else’s man is really a sweet girl who is very insecure about herself and how others perceive her and has no intentions of prying someone else’s man away from them – she just wants to make friends.  The quiet, shy woman that is very much an introvert and doesn’t stand out in a crowd has a voice like an angel and can sing like very few can.  The “stuffy” business man that may, unbeknownst to others, donate a large amount of money to a very worthy charity to help feed those less fortunate than himself.  Each of us, made in God’s image, has our own unique “beauty” that we are to share with others.  You may have the beauty of a giving heart, being a very devoted friend, or sing with a voice that draws others’ from their chaotic state of mind into a peaceful awe of what God has created around them.   

What gift or gifts has God given you to share with others?  What “inner” beauty do most people not see in you until they get to know you?  Use those “gifts” to be the beauty of God’s creation to those that do not know Him.  Draw them into a desire to find the joy that you have found in our Heavenly Father so that they, too, may bloom and grow in their season here on earth.

Prayer 

Heavenly Father, What a joy you have given us in all of the differences of the seasons so that the scenery around us does not get boring.  So, too, the beauty in each person you have created around us gives us reasons to celebrate Your creativity in their lives as well.  Help us to show others the beauty You have created in us so that we can draw them into a life of fullness and joy in You.  Amen.
