"Hide and Seek"

A devotion on hiding what we do from God until we tire of "the game" we are playing and seek God out with all of our heart.

I love those who love me,
and those who seek me diligently find me.
 ~ Proverbs 8.17:

Have you ever played a game of "Hide and Seek" when you were growing up?  Part of the thrill was finding a place to hide that you felt sure you would not be found in.  The other part of the game was the excitement of finding everyone that thought they could outsmart you by hiding in places they felt were impossible to be found in.  Sometimes you may have succeeded in hiding somewhere that the seeker couldn't find you and you got tired of waiting in your hiding place, so you eventually came out of hiding to end the game.

Life is much like a game "Hide and Seek."  We find ourselves hiding from God so that we feel safe in doing what we want to do instead of following God's will for us.  Eventually, though, we "get tired of the game" and "come out of hiding" - looking for God and to "end the game."  God is never hard to find when we truly look for Him with all of our heart.  He is always right beside us and knows where we are at all times, no matter how hard we tried to hide from Him.  He allows us to THINK we are hiding where He can't find us so that we will come to learn on our own how much we need Him and want to follow Him, but ALWAYS knows where to find us.

Prayer

Thank you, Lord, for allowing us to find within ourselves the desire to "come out of hiding" and "seek" Your will in our lives.  Amen.
