My name is Rosie Badalamente and I am a Wine Advisor with Wines for Humanity. My purpose to blog on the New Lenox Patch is to bring awareness to the people in the area of what kind of wines we carry, to educate my readers about how to select wines and to get the word out that wine is a beautiful thing!
The purpose of Wines for Humanity is to bring wine into homes through in-home wine tastings and through wines selected at the tasting, help raise funds for the prevention of homelessness.
The wine of the week is a beautiful Osthofener Goldberg Auslese from Germany. I personally like this wine paired up with Chinese food—my favorite, sesame chicken.

What is great about Rieslings is that you can pair it up with anything spicy and it balances out beautifully with the food. I really enjoy a nice cold glass of Auslese in the summer because it is so refreshing!
You can really do some fun themes with different types of Rieslings, like have a Mexican food and wine pairing night where you invite some friends over and everyone brings a Mexican dish and a Riesling to enjoy. Example: tacos and Auslese or Spanish rice and Spatlese. Sky’s the limit on the great parings you can do with this type of wine.

The nose offers aromas of ripe peaches, paired with juicy apricots and a hint of citrus. Its taste is harmonious and sensuous. A lively, fine sweetness complements the wine's invigorating flavor. Pairs perfectly with spicy foods, especially Indian and Thai cuisine, and is also an excellent complement to Mexican foods. Can definitely be enjoyed on its own.
Suggested cheese pairing: Blue, Brie, Edam
