REPORT ON JANUARY 2013 WILL COUNTY BOARD MEETING
SEE COUNTY BOARD ACTION ITEM FOR THIS MONTH.
The County Board approved the following items of business:
Approved a contract for $135,974 with Pictometry International Corp. for flyover pictures of all of Will County which will show three demensional pictures of all buildings, structures, roads and landscape in the County to be used by Will County 911 Dispatchers, local police and fire departments, assessors, the Will County GIS Dept. and others. This is a continuation of prior years contract flights.
Appropriated $787,500 of Federal Grant funds from the US Dept. of Homeland Security for the Sheriff's Dept. to purchase a new Tactical Intervention Vehicle and Tactical Ballistic Personnel Vests.

Appropriated $137,267 of Federal Grant funds from the US Dept. of Justice, State Criminal Alien Assistance Program to purchase Computer Hardware, Software, Computer Consulting and Training, Sign and Safety Equipment to be use by the Sheriff's Dept.
Appropriated $5,425 in the Land Use Dept. budget for Grant funds from Illinois Certified Local Government Grant Funds to be used for the Will County Historic Preservation Commission Educational Projects.

Granted a Variance and Ingress and Egress to TM Tire Co. at 300 South Gougar Road in New Lenox for their use be the tire dealer to sell car and truck tires as well as manufacture retread tires.
The Will County Land Use Dept. Director Kurt Paddock, Land Use and Development Committee Chairman Tom Weigel and County Executive Larry Walsh accepted the Governor's Sustainability Award for the Land Use Dept.'s efforts in the past year to promote recycling and energy conservation through various County programs as well as the new methane gas to electrical energy plant up and running at the Will County Landfill.
WILL COUNTY FOREST PRESERVE MEETING JANUARY 2013
The Forest Preserve District received the Government Finance Officiers Association Certificate of Acheivement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.
The Forest Preserve District received the Illinois Parks and Recreation Association's Outstanding Sustainability/Conservation Award for its Land Stewardship Policy that brought together many existing land stewardship programs that the district has done over 30 years on 21,000 acres in 70 county preserves.
