Trinity Barkery sends treats to dogs serving the military in Afghanistan

The Trinity Barkery, a support business of Trinity Services since 2007, makes and sells Fritters for Critters – all natural, “homemade” treats for dogs, cats and horses. Barkery manufacturing employees, all of whom are people with disabilities, mix ingredients, prepare dough, cut it into various shapes, and decorate and bake the treats. When necessary, they can produce approximately 50 pounds of food per hour. Then, they package the treats and sell them to pet lovers who visit the shop. They also supply Fritters for Critters to a variety of businesses catering to animal lovers in other locations
The Barkery has joined with Mom’s Cookies to help send treats and toys to military dogs serving in Afghanistan. The Barkery is saving the “oops”, broken and misfit treats and donating them to Mom’s Cookies.
All dog lovers and those who wish to support our troops are invited help. The Barkery is accepting donations to help send care packages to the troops in time for Christmas.

During their down time, the staff and participants are also making toys from scrap fabrics to include in the shipment. If you would like to donate to this cause and help Fritters for Critters help military dogs, please call 815-476-5104.
Trinity Barkery was first approached in August by Cathy Dorch, a representative of Mom’s Cookies. Cathy has a friend who is retired from the military but chooses to go back to Afghanistan on contract. She shared with Cathy her story about dogs that are trained for search and rescue, including ones that are deployed from our area.

The military provides the dogs with food and medical needs, such as vaccinations, but they do not provide toys or treats. The unit that Cathy’s friend was associated with was selling t-shirts to help buy and send these extra items.
Mom’s Cookies was founded by Debbie Trippiedi of Coal City, IL, to provide care packages to the troops in Afghanistan.
