Brush Up on Your Reading Skills and Strategies Before School Starts
L-W Central and L-W West are sponsoring student reading reviews before school gets started.

The Lincoln-Way Central and Lincoln-Way West Reading Departments are sponsoring a student review of important reading skills and strategies students can use in their sophomore, junior and senior years during high school. In addition, this year teachers are adding a session for all juniors and seniors who would like additional reading practice for the ACT.
The review session for freshmen -seniors will be offered from 6-7:30 p.m. Aug. 13 in room B121 at Lincoln-Way Central High School. Kathy Sulkowski will teach the course; and in room E200 Matt Robbins will be running an ACT reading review session for all juniors and seniors, according to a press release.
The review session for Lincoln-Way West freshmen-seniors to brush up on their reading and study skills for the 2013-2014 school year will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Aug. 12. Ashley Peloquin will be teaching the class. Also from 6-7:30 p.m. Aug. 12 in room B225 at Lincoln-Way West Dana Romano will provide practice and preparation for standardized tests that are used by colleges to determine such things as eligibility for programs, admissions into schools and programs, and for scholarships.
The reading review sessions are being offered free of charge. Please provide your own transportation. Materials will be provided.
"There is no need to register just come and take advantage of this reading review. This is an informational workshop; no grades or credit will be given," stated Bridget Scheer, reading department chair.
Topics covered in the free workshop include: the structure and format of the tests, an introduction to the types of passages and questions, and general study and test -taking tips. Students will receive a packet to begin preparation and will have the opportunity to enter into a raffle to win ACT Prep books.
