Business Bamboozled Into Taking 2 Bad $20s: Cops

A pair of counterfeit $20 bills turned up in an overnight deposit envelope left at a local bank, police said.

A New Lenox police officer was sent to the TCF Bank on Route 30 about 8:45 a.m. Friday to check out the bad bills.

A representative of the bank told the officer “they discovered two counterfeit $20 bills in the overnight deposit envelope for a local business,” police said.

Detectives from the New Lenox Police Department were assigned to track down where the counterfeit bills came from.
