NL Township Food Pantry Team to March in Parade for First Time

Event Details

New Lenox Loyalty Day Parade

A bright red, 1931 Model A Deluxe Ford pickup truck will be surrounded by supporters of the New Lenox Township Food Pantry as they hand out candy and make their way down the streets of town during the Loyalty Day Parade on Sunday, May 3. This is the first year that the Food Pantry will take part in the parade.

The classic Ford truck will be one of three decorated vehicles representing the Food Pantry in the parade and it will be driven by its owner, John Patterson. The Food Pantry is grateful to John and his wife Pam Patterson, who manages the REMAX 10 real estate office in New Lenox, for their support.

“The Food Pantry team is looking forward to participating in the Loyalty Day parade for the first time,” says Jim Pitcairn, Facilities and Program Director, New Lenox Township. “This parade is a treasured tradition in New Lenox and we are proud to be part of it.”

The Food Pantry has been helping to feed township residents for more than 30 years and currently serves more than 300 families. It is located at 1100 S. Cedar Rd. behind the Township offices. If you’d like to donate food, know a township resident in need of food or want to become a volunteer, please call 815-717-6221.

The Food Pantry is supported by the Family Services Foundation of New Lenox Township, a 501 c 3 organization. No tax dollars are used to purchase food for the New Lenox Township Food Pantry.
