The Cancer Support Center Partners with Jason B. Kaplan, M.D., of Northwestern Medicine Developmental Therapeutics Institute
The Cancer Support Center will host a Journey Through Cancer Series: Emerging Treatments featuring Jason B. Kaplan, M.D., of Northwestern.

On Monday, May 11, 2015, The Cancer Support Center will host a Journey Through Cancer Series: Emerging Treatments featuring Jason B. Kaplan, M.D., of Northwestern Medicine Developmental Therapeutics Institute, at its Homewood location, 2028 Elm Road, Homewood, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. This program will discuss how personalized medicine is a means to learn more about individuals’ genetic makeup. To register for this program, offered at no charge, call The Cancer Support Center at 708-798-9171.
Dr. Kaplan, medical oncologist and hematologist, as will discuss the concept of personalized medicine, how it is implemented in cancer therapeutics and how it is potentially beneficial.
“I feel privileged to be a part of the large effort to improve cancer treatment outcomes with the investigation of novel therapies that may change our current treatment paradigm, hopefully leading to cures,” said Dr. Kaplan.

For over 20 years, The Center has been here to give strength, guidance and support to anyone living with a cancer diagnosis, as well as to their loved ones. The Center is a community-based, volunteer-driven, donor-supported organization. The programs, resources and services are always delivered by professional therapists, counselors, nutritionists, and experts; and are provided in a warm, welcoming and nurturing setting at no cost to participants.
In 2014, The Center provided more than 10,700 hours of programming and more than 300 free wigs, scarves and hats to women who were losing their hair due to chemotherapy, demonstrating the need in its communities. Offices are located in Homewood, 2028 Elm Road, and Mokena, 19657 S. LaGrange Road, and the programs are also facilitated at several hospitals and cancer centers in the southland communities. The Center is able to provide these resources to anyone regardless of financial ability because of the generosity of individuals, businesses and organizations.
